Temporary-to-Hire opportunity in Downtown Portland working for a disabilities rights non-profit organization. This position works Monday – Friday from 9:00am – Noon and 1:00pm – 5:00pm, totaling 35 hours each week. Pay is $16/hour. Upon full-time hire, benefits include paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a cash fringe benefit that can be applied to medical insurance premiums, retirement plan contributions, dependent care, transportation and other eligible expenses.
Our client seeks a Bilingual Administrative Assistant who is passionate about civil rights, enjoys working with many different people in a dynamic environment, and is proficient in both Spanish and English.
In this role you’ll help promote and defend the legal rights of people with disabilities and to protect them from abuse and neglect. Our client promotes opportunity, full participation and meaningful choice for individuals with disabilities by assisting them with legal problems directly related to their disabilities.
This position plays a critical role in providing services to individuals and family members seeking assistance from the organization.
Responsibilities range from screening callers and directing them to the appropriate staff person to providing information and referral resources based on each caller’s unique needs. In addition, you’ll help maintain a professional office environment, and work on special projects when needed.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include:
∙Ability to speak and write in English and Spanish fluently.
∙Exceptional attendance and punctuality.
∙Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Reader, email programs, and databases.
∙Careful attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
∙Clear communication and patience in working with clients and staff.
∙Courteousness and empathy for clients and their situations.
∙High School Diploma or equivalent.
∙One to two years of related office experience.
∙Strongest consideration will be given to candidates with experience working with people with disabilities.
